Layer cakes and shortbread

After working with Joanna Figueroa's 'Strawberry Fields' to make this quilt, I knew I would find her next line all but irresistible. Didn't I tell you?! And so a layer cake of 'California Girl' arrived today from the lovely Jane @ Want It, Need It, Quilt.
The colours are fresh and happy, and I love the brighter blue that is new for Fig Tree. I'm not sure how Joanna does it, but there is always a soft vintage feel about her designs, which reels me in every time.

Jane is generously giving away a 'California Girl' layer cake on her blog, 'Quilt Jane, Want It, Need It, Quilt'. Hop on over here to enter.
There has been a frenzy of creative activity in the house since the kids finished school. I will be back soon with some of their action.
In the meantime, I have been busy doing some Christmas cooking for friends. I stayed with two of my fail-safe recipes, rocky road and almond and white chocolate shortbreads. Packaged in cellophane bags with cute printable tags from Martha Stewart.

  8. I have never commented on blogs or websites before but today I felt I had to let you know how lovely your web pages are, the links are great, thanks to your friends. I love your beautiful garden (wish I had a green thumb, lol), your recipes look delicious - I will be making the almond and white chocolate shortbreads on the weekend - eggless Yah. Love the easy listening music. But most of all I love your designs and selection of fabrics, I bought two of your patterns already and the twill measuring tape and buttons from your friend - a great way to support fellow crafters - I hope I get the chance to complete them.

Well just would like thank you for the peaceful journey I have had exploring your website. Have a Happy Christmas to you and your family and it was a pleasure to meet you.

  10. Inspired by your pretty pictures, I made a double batch of those delectable biscuits. I had no white choc so I substituted glace icing with vanilla paste for the drizzling, which worked very well. I would ask a question about the oven temp though - it took way longer in my oven @ 130 degs ff, but it wasn't a problem, just checked every 10 mins or so til done.
Have a lovely Christmas and thanks again for your wonderfully inspiring blog.
