Need a little inspiration?

Some more eye candy from Weigela Design in Warren, New South Wales. Unfortunately, I neglected to write down details of some of these designs, but I hope they give you some inspiration for the start of a new week. Hope your Monday is a great one! Best wishes, Bloom.
Lots of Moda goodness, & some sweet although forlorn little angels.
A Christmas angel stitchery quilt
A version of 'Tim's Things' by Hatched & Patched - a great boy's quilt.
A new layer cake pattern by Weigela Design using 'Beach House' fabrics by Blackbird Designs for Moda.
Another Weigela Design, made from 'At Waters' Edge' fabrics, again by Blackbird Designs for Moda. This quilt can be made from jelly rolls or layer cakes. Love the jumbo ric rac on this one.
A really simply but effective jelly roll design, incorporating buttons & ric rac. Made using Moda's 'Collection for a Cause' fabrics.
More Weigela loveliness here.

Back from the country

For those of you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that when I 'disappear' from cyberspace for a while, it means that I have been back to our little farm to spend time with family, do lots of gardening, play some tennis & generally 'escape' the world for a bit. On my return to town & my computer, there are many, many things to share, but where to start? Perhaps a little eye candy? I had the chance to visit one of my favourite quilting shops while I was back at the farm. 'Weigela Design' is in the small country town of Warren in central New South Wales. Warren shire has a population of just over 3000, and is in the heart of irrigated cotton growing country. 'Weigela Design' is owned by the lovely Sue Brennan & a visit to her shop is always inspiring.
There is room after room of beautiful quilts to admire ...
... and of course, no shortage of fabrics to purchase ...

... original designs by Sue to inspire, including these sweet little felt Christmas ornaments ...
... a stunning version of  'How to Grow Angels' quilt by Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched ...
... and another sample of a new Hatched & Patched design, called 'Home for Summer'.
I have more photos of this gorgeous shop to follow, but for now, you can see my posts from previous visits here, here, here and here.
Unfortunately, Weigela Design has no website, or blog, but I can pass on phone contact details for anyone interested.

'Basket Quilt & Pillows, #57' by Bareroots; 'Cherry Pop Tote' by Anni Downs of Hatched & Patched
'Angel Kisses', design by Helen Stubbings of 'Hugs 'n' Kisses'
You can see why this shop is such a delight to visit!

Weigela Design originals

Sue, the owner of Weigela Design, has her own range of original stitchery & quilting designs. These are just a few of them:

Mum is stitching away ...

Thank you for the lovely comments on my last post. Mum is very encouraged as the emails come in & is hard at work. She is working on a small quilt called 'Seeds of Love' which we bought from Weigela Design, who knows how long ago! (Weigela Design does not have a website, but I have posted photos previously, here, here, here and here). The quilt has a gorgeous heart-shaped centre panel, which Mum has finished embroidering. We are just adding the appliqued pieces this morning:
It is a very sweet design. Hope to be back soon with more progress, although her concentration is wavering a bit, & she is talking about going out for lunch! Focus Mum, focus!!

Bunny inspired post #1

I received a comment from Rachael Rabbit the other day. Of course, with a cute blog name like that, I had to investigate. Rachael's profile professes her love of all bunny inspired crafts, so I am digging up anything remotely rabbit-related in her honour! This is a little bag I stitched for one of my daughters. It is a pattern by Sue Brennan of Weigela Design who unfortunately does not have a website. But you can have a look at her lovely shop in country New South Wales here, here and here. For anyone itching for some bunny stitching, check out this free pattern at Lynnette Anderson Designs. It is just one design in her free block of the month Noah's Ark quilt.

Another WIP whipped!

With the end of the financial year approaching, there has been much figuring & calculating for me, but at last, the worst of it is over, & I can get back to more 'important' things!
This little project has been on my 'to do' list for a while, & is a (now overdue) birthday gift for a friend.
It is supposed to be a SMALL dilly bag for her to keep her teacup in when she goes out quilting for the day. It is somewhat larger than I expected however, so she'll quite possibly be able to fit the kettle in it too!
The pattern is called 'Time for a Cuppa' by Sue Brennan of Weigela Design. I have posted about her beautiful shop before. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a website. I did alter the stitchery design a little to incorporate Catherine Baynes' tea cup!
A very happy birthday to Gail! Sorry it's late my friend, but I know you will understand - you're used to it!!

Ooooh, I've been to that shop again!

Had a fun day with friends visiting that shop again, having only been there a month ago. I gave myself a good talking to before we left, insisting with myself that I should not buy ANY MORE FABRIC! Bought lovely Christmas gifts for family instead! Here is just a glimpse of the loveliness that is Weigela Design, in the little country town of Warren in New South Wales:
fragrance & flowers,
lovely linens,
gorgeous garments,
black & white beauty.
I have lots more patchwork & stitchery photos from today's trip to show you, but they will have to wait until tomorrow. All that strenuous shopping has taken its toll, & I need a little rest. PS I only bought three weeny bits of fabric - such restraint!

Pretty & pastel for a little princess

I had a request a couple of days ago from Danetta to show you the quilt in the second photo of my header, so here 'tis:This is a cot quilt made for my niece and is a simple stitchery design by Sue Brennan of Weigela Design who I have previously mentioned here and here. Unfortunately, her designs are not available online, but I can email an address and phone number to any Australian girls who are interested. She could certainly do phone orders within Australia. Hopefully, clicking on the images will show you more detail of the stitchery designs.
