Scrapping

I have finished my scrap quilt top! Now to find some time to quilt it.

I have a cunning plan to use this Lotta Jansdotter 'Echo' print for the backing (I picked it up for a song ($4/m) at Spotlight recently). I thought I would stitch this quilt from the back by roughly following the lines of the backing print. Good plan?

Notice that beautiful dark green in the background? That is our wheat crop. We have had great rain this season, and the crops in our part of the world are looking amazing. Here's hoping that the forecasts for a dry spring are wrong!

  2. I agree about quilting from the back! I have been tempted to do that before and this would be the perfect time to do it! The front is modern and simple!

  3. I like the backing and your quilting idea. I was wondering how you would approach the quilting, and I think using the backing as a guide will make it reversible. It looks rather lovely hanging on the gate with your wheat in the background.

  5. Your quilt is fresh and modern. I just love it! Have you thought about hand tieing the quilt? In Style at Home Magazine (in Canada), August 2015 issue, on page 78 they show an heirloom quilt that is tied. Your quilt would work great with that technique. eliz.i@sympatico.ca

  10. Fun to see this top of yours! I made one too so I recognised the design. The backing fabric is very good for this one and I like the idea of using those wobbly stripes for the quilting job.

  11. Love scarp quilts though mine are usually full on colour but I think I have been missing out seeing yours on a more restful serene take - must empty my neutral scrap box! Beautiful top and a lovely quilt to look forward to
