How is it that 16-year-old girls today are SO beautiful and SO sophisticated? Here are some photos from my daughter's Year 10 Formal on Saturday. Lovely, lovely dresses - all short, but thankfully not as short as last years'! And with legs like theirs ...
The hairstyles were very pretty, lots of curls and up-dos.
And the shoes!! Oh my! Without exception, they were spectacularly high. Within about half an hour the groans set in, the hobbling started and complaints flew: "Why did I wear these shoes"? Seems their mothers were right, huh?! Just sayin'!
I grew up on a farm with three brothers, so I'm not that great with the 'girl stuff'. But I'm sure getting an education via my daughter and her friends! They were all astonishingly beautiful. I am still reeling and wondering where the last 16 years have gone :)

ReplyDeleteI can relate; I have a 16-year-old daughter too. I love the looks of the shoes, especially the sandals with the bow at the ankle, but I would last about five minutes in a pair. Now I value comfort over looks!
ReplyDeleteI just loved watching the girls get all beautiful for homecomings and proms. :) Now they're at colleges far away and I don't get to see them when they're all dolled up. ::sigh::

ReplyDeleteAmazing! And I love the shoes so much, I remember hobbling to various events too. Not that keen anymore. I just don't remember any one in my class being that glamourous at 16! Hope they had a great night and that their feet have now recovered!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, all my daughters and friends do the ridiculously high shoes. I remember having just one high pair when I was sixteen and then deciding when I was 17 that they were just silly and I would never do high shoes again. Still haven't!

ReplyDeleteThey all look lovely. Yes the shoes are VERY high...and blue nails too! 16 years goes so fast. We're preparing for having a yr 7 student in the house next year. Can you believe it!
